Flamingo – A quiet observation of form
The challenge was to capture the bird’s stillness while suggesting the fluidity of its movement. Watercolours often encourage a certain level of unpredictability, and here, I allowed the pigment to settle into the paper, creating soft, blurred transitions that mirror the calm environment.
Rather than fixating on rigid detail, I focused on the curve of the neck and the way the colour shifts from a muted coral to a deeper, sun-warmed orange. The wash behind the figure is intentionally sparse, intended to hold the space without crowding the subject. It is a study in quiet poise—a momentary pause in a day spent wading.
