Finding the Rhythm of the Street Cities have a habit of imposing their own geometry…
Abstract Grid Yellow and Teal Expressionist
Structure and Chaos within the Grid
There is a deliberate tension in starting a piece with a rigid structure. For this painting, the initial layout began with a simple black grid—a structural constraint meant to divide the space and dictate the boundaries. However, the true interest developed in how the paint resisted that order.

The background fields of muted mustard yellow and deep teal were applied with broad, fluid brushstrokes, letting the colours bleed across the lines rather than staying confined within them. It became an exercise in balancing structural geometry with expressive movement. The darker ink marks add a layer of rapid, almost calligraphic notation, cutting through the blocks of colour to disrupt the stillness.
The final element was the introduction of the bright pink acrylic. Applied with deliberate weight, these marks break the surface plane, acting as focal points that pull the eye away from the underlying grid. It is less about achieving a perfect composition and more about capturing the friction between constraint and spontaneous expression.
