Vintage Red Car and Palm Trees
There is a particular satisfaction in working with immediate, heavy marks to capture a sense of movement. With this piece, the focus was less on rendering a perfect technical illustration of a classic car and more on capturing the sun-bleached atmosphere of a roadside moment.

The weight of the deep red bodywork relies on quick, layered strokes of the brush, balanced against the loose, vertical lines of the palm trees. Using a mix of thick opaque layers and quicker, more transparent marks allows the blue of the sky and the warm ochres of the roadside to bleed into one another, mimicking the glare of bright daylight. The dark, loose line work wasn’t added to constrain the colour, but rather to suggest form and shadow without stiffening the overall composition. It is meant to feel spontaneous—like a glance out of a window as you pass by.
