Vintage Red Convertible and Palm Trees

There is a specific temperature to certain memories, real or imagined, that seems best captured with direct, unhurried brushwork. With this piece, the focus was less about creating a pristine postcard image and more about capturing a fleeting sense of warmth and movement.

Vintage Red Convertible and Palm Trees Painting

The vivid red of the vintage convertible provided a natural anchor for the composition. I wanted the paint to feel tangible, applying it with thick, visible strokes that mirror the heavy contours of mid-century automotive design. The deep blue shadow cast underneath the chassis grounds the vehicle against the lighter, dusty tones of the foreground.

Lining the road, the palm trees are sketched with loose, vertical marks, their fronds catching a mix of dark greens and sun-bleached whites. The challenge lay in balancing the solid weight of the car with the airy, irregular gaps between the trees, allowing the bright blue and scattered white of the sky to break through the background. It is a quiet study of contrast: the structured form of a classic machine set against a loose, sunlit landscape.
